Digital Sales Grad Witwatersrand Captures Mazarine S. (G3) for New Owner

The Fasig-Tipton October Digital Sale closed on October 10, 2023 with 100 horses selling for a total of $1,820,000, one of them being WITWATERSRAND. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for DJ Stable LLC Graduate, WITWATERSRAND commanded $230,000 from Gary Barber, topping the sale.

WITWATERSRAND, a 2-year-old daughter of Connect, was entered in the October Digital Sale with a maiden special weight win on her resume for owners DJ Stable LLC and Quintessential Racing Florida LLC and trainer Mark Casse.  

“The online sales provide the free market the opportunity to buy ‘ready-made horses.” said Jon Green of DJ Stable, previous owner of WITWATERSRAND. “Since we never have to interrupt their training, the new owners have a chance to earn an immediate return on investment.”  

Her new owner, Gary Barber, found return on his investment quickly after WITWATERSRAND ran third in the Glorious Song S. at Woodbine on October 15,2023, just 5 days after selling in the October Digital Sale. To add to his ROI, WITWATERSRAND also captured the Mazarine S. (G3) at Woodbine on November 4, just 25 days after selling in the digital sales ring. Going 1:43.72 in the 1 1/16 mile event on the main track, WITWATERSRAND defeated stakes winner TRIPOLINA, Grade 1 placed SIMPLY IN FRONT and Grade 3 placed MYSTIC LAKE for trainer Mark Casse. Described as an electric win, WITWATERSRAND won the Mazarine S. (G3) by 2 ¾ lengths to increase her earnings to $107,131.
